Welcome to the Motor Transport Top 100: the definitive list of the largest third-party logistics operators in the United Kingdom.
The Motor Transport Top 100 has been the barometer of the performance of the UK road transport industry for decades, ranking the ever-changing sector by turnover, growth in profit, growth in turnover, and return on sales.
To be considered for inclusion in the Motor Transport Top 100 the business most hold an O-licence, operate its own fleet of commercial vehicles and conduct road-based movements of goods for a third-party (what used to be referred to as a ‘hire and reward’ operator). This excludes all own-account operators – although we do rank that sector in the forthcoming Motor Transport Fleet 200.
Where possible, we strip out any revenue derived from non-transport activities such as vehicle maintenance, manufacturing or vehicle sales. We also understand that it is often impossible to differentiate revenue derived from the movement of goods and revenue from goods stored in managed warehousing.
